Resumo: The purpose of this paper is to discuss the importance of the philosophical though applied in the tourism field, to measure how the tourism scientific indicators are increasing in Brazil. The article is quite theoretical and based in researches and pools of tourism specialists and philosophers. The paper importance is linked with the fact that tourism studies must be considered not just in partial views, but in a more complete scientific overview. Another point is that the philosophical approaches in the tourism studies aren’t widely well done in several levels and fields. The last results show the need to believe that philosophy must be more applied. The tourism scientific study in Brazil grows deeper and deeper in importance, quality and critical analysis, with important indicators related with number of publications in general, the quantity of post-graduation programs, students in graduation and scientific seminars and events.
