Resumo: This study’s central issue is “Are there innovative practices for operating and managing products and services offered in Brazil’s lodging facilities?” with the main goal of understanding the actions that guide the offering of services in Brazil. Three propositions were considered: (P1) Hospitality courses prepare the future professional for traditional lodging facilities; (P2) The country’s proposed classification does not leave room for new business models; (P3) There is rarely room for stakeholderssuch as the local community, distribution channels, or support (or pressure) groups in traditional hotel management. To use “Innovative Practices for Operating and Managing Lodging Facilities” as an example, the case study was done on Bourbon Hotels & Resorts, a national business founded in 1960 that isgoing through a process of change in management and professionalization.
