Resumo: Cultural tourism is considered, by a large number of researchers, as a way of contributing to the regeneration of the historie city centres. To reach this goal a sustainable management of the tourism flows has to be assured. Partnerships that include ali the interest groups (public and private sector and community representatives) are the only way to ensure the success of the actions that should be taken. The case of Faro may help to clarify the local features of the new approach.
