Resumo: The aim of this article is to provide useful information for the Graduate in Tourism who have finished their studies, in order to guide their first steps in the professional activity they have decided to perform.
The tourist activity is attractive and modern, with unquestionable values and a recognized economical importance. At the same time, the tourist activity have a high level of complexity and is now experiencing deep changes. In this general context, Spain is also in a stage of facing its tourist model, process in which the tourism professionals have a fundamental role.
Based on these ideas, the article starts with a preface that refers to the significance and characteristics of tourism. Then the different professional facets of the tourist activity are treated: the enterprises field, as well as the field of public administrations and international organizations, without forgetting the teaching and researching activities, or the associative and solidarity world.
