Resumo: Our study tries to show the unavoidable need to start an urgent planning process of tourist activity in the canary island of La Gomera. The different negatives effects that the recent tourist development brings about to the island, put in danger the island development based in this economic sector. The unique way to avoid this risk, would be, in our opinion, putting in practice what is called «sustainable development» that implemented with a correct strategic planning, form the idea around which turn our study.
