Resumo: The technological advances have triggered the creation of a series of companies under the collaborative economy model and operate through virtual platforms, among which Airbnb stands out, a company that has expanded to more than 190 countries and concentrates the largest volume of the offer of accommodation in private homes, which is referred to as unregulated. This modality is becoming increasingly important in tourist destinations and it is expected that by 2019 the global market for holiday rentals will reach 169 700 million dollars, derived from the combination of the increase in demand in this type of accommodation with a high volume of dwellings that are used temporarily in tourist destinations. Situation that triggers a series of tensions in the socioeconomic and territorial areas of the tourist destinations, derived from the lack of regulation that indicate it as a form of unfair competition for formally established companies, as well as encouraging investment in housing construction for this end. The present work has as objective to contribute to the discussion on the socioeconomic and territorial impacts generated by the increase of non-regulated accommodation in tourist destinations. For the empirical study, Puerto Vallarta was selected, a consolidated tourist destination that presents a considerable increase in this type of accommodation, which places it among the most requested through the online reservation systems. The method consists of an analysis of the offer through the Airbnb platform, through the indicators of location, classification, type and cost of the units, whose results offer an approximation to the impacts generated by this globalized bussines model services.
