Resumo: The impulse that evidenced the tourist activity in the Valley of Calamuchita, as in other tourist zones of the country at the beginning of the 21st century, was reflected in the progress of real estate investments in residences consigned to the tourist accommodation. This process initiated a series of practices and strategies of multiple social agents that, directly or indirectly, are manifested in local tourism development, and crystallize in the urban growth of the city. This paper deals with the relationship between residential tourism and urban growth, based on a case study carried out in the town of Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, Córdoba. The research is located within the framework of the international tourist boom and the national context of emergency of the political-economic crisis of two thousand one. The analysis focuses on the differential valuation of urban land, subject to the selectivity of capital to be located in the territory. In this way, the aim is to explain how the wave of real estate investments for the construction of tourist residences, during the decade of the two thousand, strongly impacted on the value of the urban land, defining very dynamic areas in attracting capital, and Lagging behind other less attractive areas for capital.
