Resumo: Senior tourism has been successfully established in different countries, presenting itself as a key element for the integral development of social tourism. In contrast, the recent declaration and promotion of this tourism in Mexico has shown shortcomings from its conceptual figure. Therefore, this document aims to establish a systemic definition of the phenomenon, from the analysis of literature and interpretation of the various conceptions and relationships between its social actors. The methodological design exposes a case study of the state of Tabasco, through the application of mixed research techniques, which included interviews and conducting a survey, in order to compare the information. As a result, it is proposed a conceptual model explains the interaction of the components of senior tourism. It is concluded emphasizing the importance of the theoretical approach as a reference for the responsible planning of tourist destinations.
