Resumo: At present, many protected areas around the world are the destination of an unprecedented number of visitors. In this scenario, buffer communities are being incorporated into the tourist initiatives of natural bases, as part of the implementation of the ecosystem approach. This is the case of the local associations accredited to guide leatherback turtle tours nesting in Las Baulas Marine National Park on the Costa Rican Pacific Coast.Are these populations ready for such work? Can local guides spark off interest in conservation concern in a tour?In regard to, through a research-action, this study showed how Socio environmental Interpretation could be a useful tool to manage public zone. For that, it was worked with touristic agents involved in the leather back turtle tours (Demorchelys coriácea) nesting in this Marine National Park.Results supported the thesis about the effectiveness of this tool and the important role which local populations have in implementing ecotourism properly.
