Resumo: This paper aims to review the representations about Agroecotourism developed in order to generate a first approach to the study of this type of tourism. The research design was a documentary, using the content analysis technique. The study shows that the origins of Agroecotourism are in the agrotourism and the ecotourism, which has hindered their differentiation and understanding. In this sense, we propose a definition that places it as a form of rural tourism, where interdependence relationships among farming activities and the environment are reflected. We can conclude that the agrotourism as form of tourism embraces sustainable development dimensions from natural and cultural environment, which combined with field and nature activities, establishes a differentiated and holistic typology about tourism, that is finds in the biodiversity its result
