Resumo: As any other space, tourism and leisure spaces are socially constructed; these constructions are generated according to the meanings, practices and interactions of those who visit the place. In this vein, this research aimed to identify the tourist and leisure social constructions of a particular destination by means of observations and the analysis of visitors’ experiences, practices and social interactions. Findings are discussed on the basis of a case study in the Molino de Flores Nezahualcóyotl National Park, in Mexico. Based on interactions with the place and with other people, the place is mainly constructed as a family leisure space and a culture observation space.
