Resumo: The Tourism Ministry of Ecuador has identified a considerable number of destinations where it needs to provide touristic facilities, land organization plans, tourist signs, ser vices and human resources training, with the intention of benefiting local populations trough tourism development in these areas. The section of the Ministry, Direction of Routes, based on a set of criteria determined which tourist routes could contribute to the identification of the territory, among these identified destinations is the Cultural Eco Route Mojanda Cochasqui. The purpose of this research is to establish the concept of “cultural eco route” in a context of new local and international touristic offers. This proposal looks to enhance the economy of the area within the Eco Route Mojanda Cochasqui by linking its economic and productive potential with the tourism resources identified in it, which could favor the participation of the community. To achieve this goal this study proposes a review of the documentation related to the eco route analyzed and an empirical study that includes fieldwork within the area.
