Resumo: In the Department of Casanare, Colombia (Casanare State), tourism has not been seen as an influential and important activity for its Regional Economic Development, therefore, there are no strategic guidelines to allow planning a competitive tourist system in the region. In this sense, this paper intends to present a diagnosis and analysis of the information found within the different participants of the tourism sector. The main objective is to determine the relevant indicators for the evaluation and monitoring of tourism tendencies in this Department, taking as reference the indicator systems presented in most representative information systems at a national and international level. As a conclusion, these results will be used as the basis needed to build a tourist information system for the Department of Casanare.
