Resumo: The purpose of this paper was to develop a strategic plan for the special touristic, historic and cultural district of Santa Cruz de Mompox, located in the department of Bolívar (Colombia). This, while bearing in mind that strategic planning is a flexible dynamic process that allows modifications in the methods in order to respond to the changing circumstances that occur within this activity. Nowadays, tourism is one of the main economic sources worldwide, generating employment, boosting development and playing a fundamental role as an activity capable of promoting social, economic and global union. Mompox, over the last several years, has evolved into one of the fastest growing destinations with a, powerful social and intercultural link that touches thousands of people. Methodologically, this research focuses on a quantitative method, of a descriptive nature, with a non-experimental, transactional research design.
