Resumo: In recent years we have seen an increase in interest in what is known as 'active tourism' or 'adventure tourism', an interest that has been reflected in the increase in the number of articles published both nationally and internationally. The objectives of this work have been to examine the current state of research in this type of tourism and explore the differences between the scientific production published in tourist and non-tourist journals. For this, a bibliometric study of the articles published in Spanish-language journals indexed in the ISOC bibliographic database of the Center for Human and Social Sciences (CCSH) of the Higher Council of Scientific Research (CSIC) was carried out, carrying out an advanced search of terms related to active or adventure tourism that has led to a set of 155 references, covering the period from 1975-2013.
