Resumo: This analysis evaluates the degree of accessibility of the venues for event tourism in Barcelona. The first part presents the event tourism as a sector in which Barcelona is one of the world referents, but has been hampered by the economic crisis. If in times of difficulty it is natural to look for new niche markets, the accessible tourism has emerged as one of them. The subject is approached from the concept of universal accessibility according to the conceptual development to which reference international agencies and organizations have contributed but, above all, analyzing the state and regional current legislation that protect both infrastructures and services, and information technologies. This paper also examines whether there are environmental factors such as the economic elements or social awareness that affect accessibility. The aim is to obtain a quantitative and qualitative overview of the subject of study and explain how and why the legal regulations that by right guarantee universal accessibility are being violated.
